Dorothy Schafer

I am originally from the Midwest. I attended Mount Holyoke college in western Massachusetts and graduated in 2001 with a concentration in Neuroscience. Following my undergraduate work, I attended the University of Connecticut Health Center, Department of Neuroscience, for graduate school in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Rasband. My focus in graduate school was on neuron-glia interactions involved in the formation and maintenance of polarized axonal domains, the node of Ranvier and axon initial segment. I have continued my interest in neuron-glia interactions in the Stevens lab where I have been a member since 2008.
Dori is now Assistant Professor of Neurobiology at UMass Medical School
