Jane Li

I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2024, majoring in neurobiology and psychology. At Cal, I joined the Nogales and Collins labs, where I worked on developing a gene insertion tool. I also spent two years as a research assistant for a therapist at a cognitive behavioral therapy center, completing my honors thesis on the relationship between session frequency and psychotherapy outcomes. With my growing interest in the brain, I interned in the Mucke Lab at Gladstone Institute, working on a project quantifying excitatory synapses in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. Now, I’ve joined the Stevens Lab to continue exploring neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases. I work with Dr. Jordan Doman, applying genome editing technologies in in vitro models of microglia to study the genetic determinants of microglial functions. In the office, you’ll find me snacking, drinking caffeinated beverages, or maybe watering plants, or chatting with my sisters. Outside the lab, I enjoy photography, playing tennis (occasionally), and listening to music. I also love exploring different cuisines and walking around the city.
