Jason obtained dual degrees in Neuroscience and Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2021 where he completed his honors thesis developing new technologies for use in behavioral neuroscience research. He also completed a summer research fellowship at Carnegie Mellon in computational neuroscience studying the physiology of Parkinson’s disease with Dr. Aryn Gittis. In October 2019, Jason suffered a severe spinal cord injury (SCI) as a result of a rock climbing accident. He has since transitioned his research interests to neuronal regeneration and worked in Dr. Zhigang He’s lab at Boston Children’s Hospital for multiple years as a research assistant. There, he worked to develop a system to automatically and unbiasedly quantify locomotion recovery after SCI and also collaborated with the Stevens lab to extend the system to Parkinson’s Disease and ALS.Jason is now a PhD student in the Biological and Biomedical Science Program at Harvard Medical School and in 2025, Jason joined the Stevens Lab in a co-mentorship with Dr. Zhigang He. Jason will leverage the expertise of both labs to try to understand how fibroblasts communicate with endothelial and immune cells during scar formation and early nervous system injury repair.
