My research focuses on visualizing and elucidating the novel mechanisms concerning activity-dependent refining of neural circuits in the developing brain. I am also interested in determining whether and how deficits in the development of neural circuits induce neurologic disorders such as epilepsy. Using mainly organotypic slice cultures, I am investigating the mechanisms how neural activity maintains some synapses and eliminates others.
